Drag Show

The above are all adjectives given by Butler students following the Drag Show Thursday evening.  Professional drag queens and performers graced the Reilly Room stage for an extravagant show.  The show was certainly not “a drag” with dazzling dresses, whopping wigs, and magnificent make-up. Between theatrical performances that spanned from Beyoncé to Cee Lo Green, the performers sat before the audience to share their fashion inspiration, spill their embarrassing performance stories, and offer advice to aspiring queens in the crowd.  One first year student commented on his unique experience at the show when performer Heather B**** gave him a kiss on the forehead.  “I did not expect it. But I’ve been blessed by a drag queen.”

Dollar bills flew from the audience as feathers were flying, clothes were shed, and wigs were removed.  For her first drag show, Ali Sanders said it was “invigorating [seeing the performers] being themselves.” And that was the most important piece of advice they shared with the audience: be true to yourself.
