Kicking off the year, the women of Kappa Kappa Gamma hosted their annual kickball tournament and lip syncs competition Friday evening to support their local philanthropy, the Coburn Place. This Marion County program empowers survivors of domestic violence and their children to lead safe, self-sufficient lives by offering housing, counseling, and support. Kappa senior, Sofia Valdivia, reflected on the impact Kappa Kickoff has on Butler’s campus. “It’s not only about raising money but about raising awareness too.” Proud of the accomplishments of her sorority, Valdivia explained, “I love being able to spread [awareness] around campus.” Regardless of which team made the most home runs or which men brought the best dance moves, the Greek community rallied together to educate our campus and support the survivors in our greater Indianapolis community.
